The Spider name goes back to 2008, when TaylorMade put a high-MOI mallet in front of golfers that split opinion on sight even as it won on performance. From 2021 onward the line accelerated. By 2023 the GTx and GT Max pushed customization furthest: the GT Max carried a $449 MSRP per golf.com and firstcallgolf.com and was described by the maker as its most adjustable putter yet, with configurations for CG, face rotation, and toe hang, while the GTx, at $349, added a 154-gram stability bar and True Path alignment. golfmonthly.com called the GT Max one of the best adjustable putters on the market even while giving it, in the reviewer's words, some tough love, and pluggedingolf.com credited the GTx with continuing Spider's reign as the king of stability.
