Invites
How invite links work, allotments, and what happens after someone joins.
How you get in
Someone already on Putter Talk sends you an invite link (or a short link on ptlk.io). Open it, create your account, verify email, finish onboarding. Each code is single-use and expires after a set window.
Your allotment
After you are in, you may receive a small allotment of invites (the house default is a few per member). You can see them under Settings → Your invites. When you send one, it burns from your remaining count. Staff can grant more for waitlist admits and special cases.
What invites are not
- They are not a paid growth product. Community participation stays free.
- They are not a way to create sock accounts for brigading. Abuse of the tree is a Rules problem.
- Looking up a random code does not tell outsiders whether a code is "almost valid." Invalid and burned look the same from the outside by design.
Waitlist
If you do not have an invite, leave your email on the waitlist from sign-in. When you are admitted you will receive an invite path. Waitlist joins never reveal whether an email is already a member.
