Putterzone.com's review called the XB-1 a work of art as well as a precision instrument, writing that it lives up to its price tag by offering top-to-bottom excellence, from craftsmanship to materials, performance to aesthetics. Other opinion on the putter has praised its remarkable craftsmanship and the seamless fusion of the copper insert with the face, along with vivid, crisp feedback off the strike. That same commentary has also pushed back on the look at address, citing extra dips, notches, and bevels on the sole as optically busy, a tension between the sole's alignment aids, described by putterzone.com as a framed-in alignment pocket with sloping flanges and a black center line flanked by two grooves, and the cleaner look some players want standing over the ball.

Cosmetically, putterzone.com's account centers on a finish that combines copper flourishes with silver and black, set off by a geometric pattern with exceptionally fine spacing. The putter came with a slip-on headcover per that same reporting. Putterzone.com also places the Sizemore brand's launch in 2006, which would make the XB-1 an early release in the young line rather than a later refinement of it.
