The Record

Written from the sources it cites · machine-drafted for the Community to correct

The Ping Wolverine, in its Sigma G form, is a mallet putter, per golfmonthly.com's reporting on the Sigma G line. That's the extent of what the maker's own materials give us here, so the record on this release is thin on spec and history, and rests mostly on how it played in one outlet's hands.

Golfmonthly.com's review of the Sigma G lineup singled the Wolverine out for its sound and feel, and the two aren't in agreement with each other so much as with themselves: they found the mallet Wolverine to have a hollow feel and produce a very loud ping off the face to the point where it didn't feel like we were using the premium golf ball we actually were. They were careful to frame that as a matter of taste rather than a flaw outright, adding that this wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just something that might not be to every golfer's taste. The Community notes on file echo the sound and feel complaint more bluntly, describing the putter as hollow-feeling with a very loud ping off the face, without the same hedge.

Set against the rest of the Sigma G line, what we hold on the Wolverine specifically is a mallet head that drew attention, favorable or not, for its acoustics rather than its milling, its geometry, or anything else on the spec sheet. Golfers weighing it against its stablemates will want to lean on that feel and sound question first, since it's the one thing the record actually speaks to in detail.

No cited specs on record yet. Caddie tells you what IS known, honestly.

hollow feel very loud ping off the face
We found the mallet Wolverine (above right) to have a hollow feel and produce a very loud ping off the face to the point where it didn’t feel like we were using the premium golf ball we actually were. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just something that might not be to every golfer’s taste.
