Anser (PLD Milled)

The 2024 PLD Milled Anser is Ping's milled take on the head that started the whole family, built to the signature blade shape with rounded corners that the Anser has carried through every era. Golf.com reports it went on sale Feb. 22, with an MSRP of 485 USD, and describes the head as forged 303 stainless steel, a material tgw.com also lists, though tgw.com describes it simply as 303 stainless steel without the forging detail. Both outlets put the finish as gunmetal, and both describe a deep AMP, or Aggressive Milling Pattern, cut into the face.

Golf.com's reporting goes further into the process, stating that more than four hours of milling time is required to make each head, and noting a new white sight line for 2024 to contrast the gunmetal finish. Tgw.com adds that the putter carries perimeter-weighting and is built for a slight arc stroke. Golf.com also reports that the putter ships with Ping's newest custom-designed graphite composite putter shaft, a departure worth noting if true, since it would mark a shaft change from steel on a model whose identity has always run through its head shape rather than its shaft.

Taken together, the two outlets largely agree on what this release is: a gunmetal, aggressively milled 303 stainless Anser head sold at 485 USD starting in February. Where they diverge, notably on whether the steel is forged, is worth flagging rather than resolving, since neither claim comes from Ping directly in the material held here.
