This is Ping's revisit of the putter that started it all, built to mark the Anser's fiftieth year on record. Golf.com reported that the run used original molds and tools from the original foundry, which is the kind of claim that puts this release in conversation with the very first Ansers rather than the many descendants that followed.

The details golf.com laid out lean hard into period-correct sourcing: Golf Pride molded the original grip, 3M supplied the grip tape, and True Temper supplied the original model shaft. That same reporting has John Solheim hand-grinding each putter himself, and puts the production run at more than 1,500 of these commemorative putters. Set against the rest of the Anser line, this edition isn't a redesign or a reinterpretation, it's a stated attempt to reproduce the original as closely as the maker's own archive allows.
