Bettinardi's own product page notes that the head shape existed in one-off form "in the Hive" for years before Robert Bettinardi brought it to production, calling the Studio Stock 9 Spud a putter offering "his high-toe topline, mid-body blade as a production model for the first time in over a decade." That framing matters: this is not a new design so much as a name finally getting its proper release, and the record here holds that single Spud edition.

The Spud, per Bettinardi's own page, is milled from one solid block of 303 stainless steel with the Roll Control face milling and a Diamond Blast/Polish finish, mounted to a single-bend Spud neck built for an eighth of an inch of toe hang. Fairwayjockey.com's reporting lines up with much of that picture, describing a 303 stainless steel precision milled head, a mid-body blade "a little wider than the standard blade model," and a higher MOI achieved through the reworked head shape, though that outlet's account should be read as its own reporting rather than a maker-confirmed spec.

Bettinardi's page adds the origin detail that gives the Spud its shape story: the SS9 head was "re-engineered with a more narrow and compact length heel to toe," repositioning weight to increase MOI, a change the maker pairs directly with the Roll Control face to call it "one of the most forgiving blades" in the current production lineup. Whatever else the Studio Stock 9 becomes going forward, this Spud release is where the line reenters production after its long run as a Hive one-off, and the record so far holds just that one chapter.
