BB8W

The BB8W enters the record with a single release, the 2022 BB Series head, introduced on Bettinardi's own page simply as "Discover the all-new BB8W." That's the whole of the line's public debut as we hold it: one head, one year, one line of maker copy announcing its arrival.

What the line lacks in count it makes up for in variation once it reached the Hive Archive. The same BB8W shape has turned up in a Black Ox DASS build at 351 grams, with a Welded Long neck, a black oxide finish over a geometric T-Hive sole pattern, and the Micro Honeycomb face milling Bettinardi puts across its work. It's also appeared as a Poison Fancy Face DASS version at 349 grams, carrying a Welded Double Barber Pole neck, a Steel Patina finish, an Oil Rub Bronze PVD shaft, and a fully worked face pairing Micro Honeycomb milling with the Bettinardi wordmark and Poison X detailing. Both are described on the maker's own pages as 1-of-1 pieces, each shipped with its own grip and headcover.

So the arc here isn't one of successive model years so much as one head treated as a canvas. The 2022 BB Series release supplies the base BB8W shape, and the Hive Archive listings show that same shape carried into limited, one-off dress treatments, heavier DASS castings, and increasingly ornate face and sole work. Across all of it, Bettinardi's own boilerplate repeats the same claim: putters milled, tested, and perfected in the company's own facility outside Chicago. Whether that consistency reads as brand discipline or as a maker leaning on a familiar line is left to the reader with the putter in hand.
