BB8W

The BB8W arrived as part of Bettinardi's 2022 BB Series, with the maker's page announcing it simply as "Discover the all-new BB8W." That's the extent of what the maker's own marketing copy tells us about the release itself, but the head has gone on to live a second life in Bettinardi's Hive Archive, where individual DASS builds on the BB8W shape show up with their own one-off treatments.

Two of those Hive listings give a sense of what the BB8W platform can carry. One DASS BB8W came in at 351 grams with a Welded Long neck, the Black Ox finish, a black oxide geometric T-Hive pattern on the sole, and the signature Micro Honeycomb face milling, paired with a Lamkin deep etch grip. Another, a 349-gram DASS build, ran a Welded Double Barber Pole neck, a Steel Patina finish, and an Oil Rub Bronze PVD shaft, with a polished Full Fancy Face combining the Micro Honeycomb pattern, the Bettinardi wordmark, and a border of Poison Xs, finished with a Stinger Gripmaster grip. Both are described as 1-of-1 pieces, which puts them outside the standard 2022 release and into Bettinardi's limited Hive program built around the BB8W shape.

Across all three listings, Bettinardi's boilerplate repeats the same claim about the operation behind them, that the putters are milled, tested, and perfected in the company's own facility outside Chicago. Nothing here separates a standard-run 2022 BB8W spec sheet from the archive pieces, so what the record shows is a head that started as a 2022 BB Series release and was then used repeatedly as a canvas for the Hive program's one-off finishes.
