BB1 Wide

The BB1 Wide arrives as a single entry on our record so far, released in 2024 as part of Bettinardi's BB Series. It reads less as a brand-new idea than a refinement of a familiar one: the maker's page describes it as a version of the classic BB1 blade shape reworked "based on feedback from Tour players seeking a more forgiving putter with the classic blade-style headshape." Rather than starting from scratch, RJB took material from the heel and compressed the heel-to-toe length to shift the center of gravity, which according to the maker's page also produced "a more uniform headshape allowing for simple setup and alignment."

The notable technical step for this line, at least in its first appearance, is structural rather than cosmetic. Bettinardi's page calls the BB1 Wide "our first production putter with a soundslot through the flange," paired with the new Perpetual Flymill face milling. That combination is presented as the source of the putter's audible feedback, with the maker's page stating it results in "superior audible feedback and masterful control on every putt." The face itself is milled from 303 stainless steel, per the maker's page, and finished in Black Pearl PVD, a finish the maker describes as adding "an extra layer of confidence upon address" beyond its visual effect.

At launch the BB1 Wide carried an MSRP of 450 USD. With only the 2024 release on record, the line's arc so far is really just its opening chapter: a wide-bodied take on the BB1 blade, built around a heel-weighted COG shift and a new soundslot-and-Flymill face pairing, dressed in Black Pearl PVD.
