That places this release as a centenary revisiting of a shape with a long line behind it, rather than a new design starting from scratch.

Golfalot.com's reporting on the build describes a double milled face, a head weight of 335 grams, a Lamkin 3GEN grip, and a finish that pairs a glossy, mirror-like sole with a duller, matte finish across the rest of the head. The publication also noted the toe is keen to open on the way back and close through impact, a blade trait that shows up directly in how reviewers describe playing it.

Opinion on the release is mixed on first impression but converges on feel. One set of Community notes praised the feel as incredible, quiet and soft, crediting the double milling for improving both sound and feel, and called the look at address simple and familiar once adjusted to, though initially daunting for those used to modern designs; those same notes describe early mishits to the left while adapting to the blade shape, and flagged that it doesn't have the forgiveness or stability of a larger, mallet shaped putter. Golfalot.com, by contrast, was unreserved about the shape itself, writing that "the new 8802 is work of art" and that "the elegant, smooth, classic shape inspires you to hole more putts rather than doing the work for you."
