Madison

The Madison is Toulon Design's signature blade, and the record here traces it from a 2017 refinement through a 2022 reworking to a 2024 first run. Across every version, the throughline is the same: a heel toe weighted blade with a 45 degree toe hang, built for players with moderate arc, dressed in the maker's recognizable dark finish and deep milled face.

The earliest capture on file, from 2017, describes the Madison as "an iconic blade that has been designed to perfection," with shoulders and bumpers "completely redesigned" for that year and a face pattern the maker says came out of testing "25 different mill patterns." That generation shipped in AR and MR builds, distinguished by different sole plate and CounterCore grip weights, the maker's page listing total head weights of 385g and 365g respectively depending on release. The hosel was a full shaft offset mid slant, meant, per the maker, for "an incredibly smooth transition from the neck to the head."

By 2022, the line had been reworked again. The maker's own copy for that release says the Toulon Design putters "have been completely reimagined to improve performance witha new Deep Diamond Groove mill pattern, split weighting system, our new Stroke Lab shaft and midsize pistol grip," pairing the classic blade shape with a Stroke Lab shaft the maker credits with rebalancing tempo. Reviewers responded to that era with real enthusiasm for the milling: golfsupport.com called the H1 variant "one of the best blade putters on the market" thanks to its "deep diamond groove mill pattern," and pluggedingolf.com allowed that while "not a unique entry into the golf marketplace," a "well-made Anser-style putter will always find an audience." Not every review agreed on which version was better; theclubhouse.blog, writing about a later putter, noted only "I much preferred it to the Toulon Madison from my previous review," without saying why.

The 2024 First Run brings the Madison to its most recent documented form, moving to a Chocolate PVD finish with Heritage Green and Cream accents and a mid-depth Double Fly Cut face milling, still built from 303 stainless steel per the maker's page. Community opinion on the Madison as a whole has stayed split along familiar lines: praise for its detail, feel, and quiet sound at address, set against complaints of right aim bias and a premium price for a shape reviewers keep describing as familiar rather than new.
