Suzuka CGB

The Suzuka CGB is one of four CGB models TaylorMade's Rossa line introduced for 2006, and the only half-mallet among them, the other three being L-neck, center-shafted, and short-slant-neck blades. According to the maker's product page, the CGB line built into the Suzuka uses CGB rods and plugs to shift the center of gravity low and deep into the back of the head, with the stated aim of improving launch and promoting a better roll. The head carries a Titallium insert, described by the maker as a light-yet-strong material, with the weight it saves redistributed to the perimeter of the head for added forgiveness on mis-hits.

Thesandtrap.com's reporting fills in the shape and finish: a face with a semi-circular flange behind it and a single sight line, likened to a Scotty Cameron Red X, finished in Rossa's standard 2006 Tour Satin. The same source describes the AGSI insert, fire-red Titallium with twelve closely-spaced CNC-milled grooves, as an anti-skid system meant to reduce bounce off the face, and lists the Suzuka at a 335g head weight, 3.5 degrees of loft, 70 degrees of lie, a heel-shafted double-bend hosel, and an MSRP of $229 USD, available in 33, 34, and 35 inch lengths with built-in weights that cannot be changed.

On feel, the record is thin but split in tone. One community note praised the CGB for a softer feel and an easier stroke without further detail. A negative post on thesandtrap.com went further in the same direction, calling out the Corza by comparison as feeling and hitting badly, and saying the Suzuka has a way softer feel and a better and easier stroke than the Corza. Both are opinions rather than findings, but they point in the same direction on how the Suzuka compares to its Rossa CGB stablemates.
