The Phantom Black 7 was, per the maker's page, developed by working with a prominent tour player seeking the performance and alignment benefits of a specific shaft configuration in conjunction with the long sightlines and high MOI of the Phantom 7 model. That lineage matters: this is a 2025 build on the existing Phantom 7 head, dressed in Scotty's Tour Black finish and set apart by its shaft, not by a new casting.

The defining feature is the double bend shaft. Scotty Cameron's page describes the intent plainly: rather than position the shaft to disappear from the player's view at address, the double bend shaft of the Phantom Black 7 creates a view like a plumbing neck with a "cross" angle to help square the putter. That's a departure from the more conventional single-bend or straight offerings elsewhere in the Phantom Black family, and it's built for players who want to see the shaft do work at setup rather than vanish.

Construction holds to the same materials as the rest of the line: a 303 stainless steel body paired with a 6061 aircraft grade aluminum sole component. The head carries a milled sight line on the topline, customizable sole weights, and chain-link face milling, with a urethane-coated custom Matador grip finishing the build. Weighting is length-specific, running 2 x 20 grams at 33 inches down to 2 x 10 grams at 35 inches, with loft fixed at 3.5 degrees and lie at 70 degrees across all three lengths.

Within the Phantom Black family, the 7 sits alongside the 5.5, 9.2R, and 11 head shapes for 2025, but the double bend shaft is what separates this particular release from a simple black-finished version of the standard Phantom 7.
