Select Laguna

The 2018 Select Laguna is Scotty Cameron's re-engineered take on a shape that had been part of the lineup before, brought back with updated construction. The maker's page describes it as the newest, re-engineered Laguna bringing back a popular head shape, and elsewhere as modernized from the sole up. It carries the 2018 Select line technology, built around a 303 stainless steel head with a mid-milled stainless steel face inlay and a mini-slant neck, mounted to a full shaft offset. Carlsgolfland's listing separately describes the body as 303 stainless steel and the face inlay in the same material, language close enough to the maker's own to read as description rather than dispute.

On the sole, the Laguna carries four-way balanced sole milling and a sculpted flange, with an improved vibration dampening system noted on Scotty's own site, while Carlsgolfland puts a number to it: 30% more vibration dampening. Stock specs run 3.5º of loft and 70º lie, with custom windows of -1º to +1º loft and -2º to +2º lie, and the head is available across 33, 34, and 35 inch lengths in half-inch increments. Weighting is heel-to-toe, using customizable stainless steel weights that scale down as length goes up, 20 grams at 33 inches, 15 at 34, and 10 at 35. It comes standard with the Matador Midsize grip at 11 inches, listed by the maker as the Select Midsize version of that grip.

Within the Select line, the Laguna sits as the shape built for a straighter stroke, with Carlsgolfland's page pointing to a straight back, straight through putting motion and a design meant to support a flowing stroke. That places it apart from the more toe-hang oriented shapes elsewhere in the same release year's lineup, with its identity resting on the return of the Laguna profile itself rather than a new silhouette.
