Studio Select Laguna 1.5

The 2011 Studio Select Laguna 1.5 is Scotty Cameron's redo of the earlier Laguna-style putters, milled from Precision Milled 303 Stainless Steel with a high toe and modern, triangular heel. The maker's page describes it as a complete re-design of earlier Laguna-style putters, and the changes show most in the topline and neck. The thicker topline carries rolled, smooth edges, and a milled sight line runs through the flange. The flare neck brings a half shaft of offset, built with technical four-way flat milling, and the maker's page notes that neck is milled from the topline with onset, then cold-bent by hand for the half-shaft of offset.

The head carries a 4° loft and 71° lie, with custom lie adjustment of plus or minus 2°. It comes with interchangeable weights, which the maker's page lists as factory interchangeable weights that can be changed by the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop, and a 2° draft sole for square alignment at address. The stock build runs a stepless shaft at 33, 34, or 35 inches, topped with a dancing Scotty Cameron red cord grip, and the maker's page lists custom grip options of Black or Red Baby T and Black or Red Studio Design.

Cosmetically, the Laguna 1.5 leans into its name with a translucent red lacquer paintfill and bold, Tour-inspired Cherry Dot graphics, a look distinct from the more understated finishes elsewhere in Cameron's Studio Select lineup. Against the rest of that line, the Laguna 1.5 reads as the more decorative, color-forward release, built on the same milled 303 stainless steel foundation but dressed to stand apart.
