Futura X5R

The Futura X5R arrived in 2016 as the rounded counterpart to the Futura X5, and the maker's own description draws the line plainly: both putters carry forward "Scotty's design philosophy for multi-material, mechanical, high MOI putters into new territory," with the X5R distinguished by its shape rather than its underlying concept. The name gives away the difference outright, "the Futura X5R (R for round) embodies the stable, face balanced design that straight-back-straight-through stroke proponents like, but with more curve than the angular Futura X5."

As shipped, the head is 303 stainless steel with an aluminum sole, set at 3.5º loft and 70º lie, with full shaft offset. It came in 33", 34", and 35" lengths, and the counterweighting scales with length: 2 x 20 grams at 33", stepping down to 2 x 15 grams at 34" and 2 x 10 grams at 35". It was fit with a Matador Midsize 11" grip. Custom options extended the loft and lie window (-1º to +1º loft, -2º to +2º lie) and allowed half-inch length adjustments on the right-hand build.

An earlier capture of the maker's page, from the putter's run under the Cameron & Crown banner, lists a 33" build with a Matador small grip rather than midsize, alongside the same core geometry. The two maker sources agree on the design language and the fundamental shape, but that grip discrepancy is worth noting as the putter moved from its Cameron & Crown listing into the archived 2016 record.
