Futura X

The Futura X arrived in 2013 as the mallet answer to the original Futura's toe-hang instincts, and the release rows around it tell the story of a line that kept experimenting with mass and shape rather than settling on one silhouette. That first Futura X came in 33, 34, and 35 inch lengths with a 70 degree lie and 3.5 degree loft, per the maker's own spec pages, alongside a Futura X Long variant built for the belly and broomstick crowd the same year. Haggin Oaks called the standard Futura X "the most stable putter I have ever played," which is opinion rather than fact, but it lines up with the general reputation the model built early on.

From there the line split into different mass configurations. The Futura X5/X5R brought a frozen titanium finish with red dot graphics and, according to the maker's page as cited by 2ndswing.com, a balance bar moving the center of gravity away from the face for high MOI. 2ndswing.com's review praised the look directly, calling the finish and shaping "a great look," while other commentary on the X5/X5R echoed the stability theme that had already attached itself to the X in 2013. The Futura X7M pushed further into engineered mass, with the maker's page describing an "even larger face-sole component with pop-through bar-back aluminum component," removable stainless steel sole weights for customization, and a vibration dampening system. It was sold, per Scotty Cameron's own page, at Titleist golf shops worldwide.

The Futura Dual Balance rounds out the five releases on record, carrying forward the same multi-material construction and perimeter weighting the maker's page attributes to the X5/X5R as well, at a listed $425. Taken together, the five releases show a line that never repeated its own formula twice: standard length, long, and dual balance versions, alongside at least two distinct high MOI mallet shapes in the X5/X5R and X7M, all sharing the Futura X name while pulling in different directions on mass distribution and stroke type.
