Concept X CX-01

The Concept X CX-01 arrived in 2018 as, in the maker's own words, a prototype brought to production, a premium model that blends the visual characteristics of a blade with the playability of a mallet. Scotty Cameron's page describes the line as launching his design ideas into a new stratosphere, and the CX-01 carries the hardware to back that framing: dual-zone vibration dampening chambers for sound and feel, and high-MOI-producing wings at the back of the head that the maker says melt into the ground at address while adding stability and forgiveness. The head mixes 303 stainless steel with a 6061 aircraft aluminum face and sole technology, carries 3.5º of loft and 70º of lie, and comes in 33, 34, and 35 inch lengths with matched heel-toe weights of 20, 15, and 10 grams. Scotty Cameron's page attributes the offset and setup to a Tour proven Nuckle Neck alongside new four-way sole balancing technology, and finishes the head in Stealth Gray.

Reviewers largely read the CX-01 as a genuine hybrid rather than a marketing label. Cameron himself, quoted by coloradoavidgolfer.com, describes the look as elegant and high-end and industrial, and says that after a few putts the wings almost disappear so it reads like a blade, while the added width makes it more forgiving, giving the player the best of a blade and the best of a mallet in one putter. Golfalot.com and Spargo Golf both describe the wings sprouting from the back of the head as the mechanism for raising MOI, consistent with the maker's own account, though the outlets differ slightly on naming: golfalot.com calls the neck a low-slant Joint Neck where Cameron's own page calls it a Nuckle Neck. Coloradoavidgolfer.com adds a playability note worth weighing on its own terms, that the CX-01 is not face-balanced or even near-face balanced, and so is less suited to a straight back, straight through stroke, a caution that sits alongside the forgiveness praise rather than contradicting it outright.

Within the two-putter Concept X release, the CX-01 is the blade-leaning half of the pairing, its Nuckle Neck and one shaft of offset positioning it closer to a traditional blade look than its CX-02 sibling, even as both share the dual-zone dampening and four-way sole balancing that define the line. Titleist's own listing puts MSRP at 625 USD, while coloradoavidgolfer.com lists 599, a discrepancy the reader should note rather than resolve. The maker's page lists North American availability beginning August 31, 2018, with worldwide release following on September 28, 2018.
