Catalina Two

That's the earliest mark of the line as we hold it, a Made For The Tour build with no wider commentary attached beyond that assessment.

Two years on, the line resurfaces as the Oil Can Classics Catalina 2 in 1999, and here the maker's page gives us something to work with directly. Scottycameron.com describes the head as a slightly wider variation of the Newport head, built with no neck and a double bend shaft, set to a 35 inch length, 71 degree lie, and 4 degree loft. The maker's page also speaks to how it plays rather than just how it's built, noting that the absence of a hosel and the double bend shaft make for a completely different feel, with toe hang listed at 1/4. That's a putter defined as much by what it leaves off, the hosel, as by what it carries forward from the Newport shape.

Between the two releases, the Catalina Two moves from a Tour-context putter praised in retrospect for its classic status to a named retail-adjacent build with a fuller technical picture on record, wider head, no-neck design, and a maker's own account of the feel that design choice produces.
