Sigma 2 ZB

The record holds a single release in this line: the Ping Sigma 2 ZB 2. There's no earlier ZB generation on file here to trace an arc against, so what we can tell is the shape of this one entry as reported at the time of its release.

Golfalot.com described the ZB 2 as carrying echoes of a Ping Zing 2, and tgw.com called its shape the classic ZB shape made same width as the Anser, which places it squarely in Ping's blade lineage rather than a mallet departure. Golfmonthly.com reported a wider flange than the original ZB and more perimeter weighting to increase forgiveness, a change aimed at moving the head's performance envelope without abandoning the blade look.

Opinion on that tradeoff split. One take praised the putter for forgiving moi and its classic look, while flagging the loudest, reasonably hollow sound among the models it was compared against, a criticism golfalot.com also raised directly, calling it the loudest of the three new models with a reasonably hollow sound. Golfalot.com's own review leaned positive on the forgiveness question, writing that the longer head does help the MOI to make it as forgiving as an Anser and if you want a generous style blade then the ZB2 is worth checking out. Golfalot.com also listed a head weight of 350 g and pegged the putter's fit toward a Strong Arc stroke.

With only the one release on record, the ZB 2 stands here as a single data point: a blade-width ZB shape reworked with more perimeter weighting, reviewed favorably for forgiveness by at least one outlet and knocked by more than one for how it sounds off the face.
