Versa (original)

The original Versa arrived in 2013, according to golfalot.com, built around what the same publication described as three alternating colours, either white-black-white or black-white-black, running down the topline and into the face. That striping is the whole idea of the release: a putter meant to be read at address rather than just aimed by feel.

Golfalot.com called the look popular with Tour players and amateurs alike, and put it plainly: "The contrasting white and black look proved popular with Tour players and amateurs." That's a reviewer's read on how the market responded, not a claim this Record is making itself, but it's the only outside account we hold of the original Versa's reception.

Odyssey's own later product pages, for Works Versa models such as the #1 Putter, the Arm Lock Versa, and the Tank Versa, describe the "Versa high contrast alignment" as letting "your eyes key in on the linear designs to highlight the proper face angle from address to impact for alignment throughout your putting stroke." That language is attached to the later Works-era Versa putters rather than to the 2013 original itself, but it speaks to the same alignment idea the 2013 release introduced into Odyssey's line: color contrast as a functional aid to setup, not just cosmetics. The 2013 Versa reads as the starting point for a line that Odyssey kept building on, folding the same black-and-white treatment into inserts, arm lock shafts, and counterbalanced heads in the years after.
