Honeycomb

The Bettinardi Honeycomb dates to 1999, built as a one-piece milled putter and carrying the Honeycomb face milling that would go on to become one of the maker's most recognizable patterns. That's the whole of what the record holds on the release itself: a single year, a single construction note, and the milling that gave it its name.

The pattern's staying power is easy to trace through what Bettinardi has done with it since. The maker's own materials, twenty years on, describe bringing back "his Project Honeycomb pattern" for a limited 303 stainless steel belt buckle, calling it "a special nod to our history, celebrating 20 years of excellence." That's a maker treating the original 1999 milling as heritage worth marking, not just a face treatment that came and went.

The name has since spread well past the putter head. Bettinardi has put the Honeycomb pattern on a Garsen grip and on a GustBuster umbrella, the latter described as pairing "our Hex B in the center" with "our iconic Honeycomb pattern on alternating panels." Whatever the 1999 release looked like on its own terms, the record shows the pattern it introduced outlived the putter as a recognizable piece of the brand's visual language.
