BB4

The BB4 line begins in 2000 with the BB41, a Millennium Series release from Bettinardi. The maker's page lists the BB41 built with weighted brass plugs in the face and brass ingots located on the flange, heel, and toe, worked into a body of 303 Stainless Steel. That combination of a soft brass insert system set against a stainless body was the kind of feel-engineering Bettinardi was already known for building by hand, and it gives the earliest BB4 a distinct identity within the Millennium Series lineup.

The line's second entry, the BB43, carries the Millennium Series edition forward but shifts the setup at the neck. Where the BB41's feel came from its insert system, the BB43 is built center-shafted, a change that alters how the putter sets up and swings regardless of what's happening at the face. It's a meaningful divergence within a single-named line: two putters carrying the BB4 designation, both under the Millennium Series banner, but built around different mechanical premises for how the head is meant to move.

Taken together, the two releases show a line that didn't simply reissue itself. The BB41 leaned on insert and ingot weighting to shape feel, while the BB43 changed the geometry at the hosel. The BB4 name spans that difference rather than papering over it, and what's on record for each model reflects two distinct approaches to the same lineage.
