Mokume Gane Barn Find
« on: May 08, 2017, 08:30:46 AM »
Hello gang,

I have read so much about these putters and they look fantastic - so begins the search. Can someone give me a 'ball park' figure of what I will be looking at and my chances of finding one. I know they are hard o come by, but is it worth my trying to obtain one? Thanks guys.

Kind regards,
Rob

$250-300 USD in mint condition.  DEFINITELY worth obtaining one.  Tad hot bent the neck so they have about a 1/2 shaft of offset.  The body was milled by Bettinardi and is a near identical profile to the BB2 and 1995-1996 Cameron Napa.  They aren't super heavy, usually landing between 330-335g.  Tad's feel shaft by Nippon.  And, he signed and numbered most of the covers.

The Mokume Gane insert isn't as soft as the pure copper inserts of the original Tour Classic and the heads are Black Ox finished, so they are a little higher maintenance.  But this is a putter that every collector that appreciates milling and talent should own.
Adams Damascus 8802
Bettinardi 110Cu BB2
Byron DB Captain Morgan Cu 1/4
Cameron 1996/500 Copper Napa
Giannini 1992 handmade 8802
Lajosi Damascus LP-808
Mills 8802 handmade
Scratch McCoy 8802 handmade
Tad Moore Hoffman 8802 Cu
Wilson DB Arnold Palmer
Xenon 8802 copper handmade #388
Yamada Razor Cu

Thanks Stage, was kind of hoping you would chime in. I agree that if you are a classic putter enthusiast, this seems to belong on the 'must have' list.

I will now hit all the WTB threads - thanks as always mate.  :)

Kind regards,
Rob

With the help of Stage, I was able to acquire a Barn Find and another Tad masterpiece, both of which are in my collection thread. I am extremely grateful.
