Beat me too it Scott.  I am stoked too.  I will be picking up "the one" on my trip to the studio.  I am interested to hear what the 1 hour fitting intails andseeing all the putters.  Anyone here that had been for a fitting I would love to hear what the hour consists of.

I've had a fitting.  It consisted of a lot of chatting with Ben about all things Bettinardi and putting, and spending a lot of time with the high speed cameras.  I didn't buy a putter because I already had about 4 Bettinardi's I really liked.  It was like being treated like Brian Gay at the Studio.  Really cool.

Do you get to see a lot of "nice" putters during the fitting?

I did.  But my blessing (or is it curse?) is that I like one headstyle and one headstyle only:  the BB8.

PLEASE, if Jimmy is there make him give you the tour of the factory!  I think the line was "that machine over there...well, I don't know what the hell it does." LOL

Enjoy yourself, and take some pictures!

In general, it's just a really cool experience.  You quickly realize you are in a machine shop, where they happen to
build putters.  Kind of a different vibe (very cool, IMO)...the putter studio is actually in what appears to be a retrofitted executive board room on the 2nd floor which overlooks the shop.

My actual fitting was rather short because my putter was pretty much already set up for me by coincidence. The laser scope confirmed it.

If you are in the market for a new putter, my recommendation would be to get in touch with Jimmy or Nick before the trip to see what they have.  The putters in the studio are nice, but it's a bit of a crap shoot.  I found a lot of head styles I liked, but they typically had the wrong neck, wrong weight, etc.  They can have the putter shipped to the studio to be set up during the fitting, and then you know you will walk out with something.  I went there with my own BB-32, hoping to buy another putter to match it and left empty handed (except for my putter and a bunch of Bettinardi gear  :D)

Enjoy the area Jimmy.......I have played Grand Geneva many many times.

I am ready to find the  "One" as Kevin mentioned as well.  I have never been fitted for  putter and am very curious to see what my specs are.   If i had to guess right now,  my ideal putter would be the style of a BB-8 or BB-Zero, but who knows when we get into the master's workshop!

Do they help you narrow down a neck style via the cameras etc.  I have putted with them all and seem to putt just about equally well or bad depending on the day.  I am a low digit handy and have been wanting to find a putter that is for me and stick and stay for awhile with one gamer.

I did this exact thing.  It's as easy as putting a tiny mirror on the toe of the putter and having a couple of goes at it.

Just got back to Iowa from Studio B, and let me tell you it was amazing.   I went in with really high expectations and I can definately the Studio met and exceeded them.

We got to the studio and was greeted by Ben.  He took us up to the second floor where the studio was located.  He gave us 20 or so minutes to pick out a putter that was suitable to our eye and felt good to roll.

We then headed into the fitting room where there is a window that looks into the production area.  I immediately looked down and much to my surprise, saw "The Man" himself on the floor working and instructing the machine operator.  Simply Amazing! It was then Ben and I got to "work".  The first thing we did was determine my length.  Ben asked what length I usually play, and I told him 34 inches.  He stated that I was too far over the ball with a putter at this length, and we went with a 35 inch putter.  After that he  showed me the rack of grips and told me to pick anyone I wanted.  Of course being a former Cameron guy, I chose the Red Kool-Aid Studio grip!!  Ben   He quickly realized that I needed my putter to be flat.   The putter I chose( I will get to that later)  toe was off the ground to much and Ben and I worked to get that square to the ground!.  We then adjusted to loft of the putter.  After the fitting, he took me over to the headcover cabinent and told me to pick whatever I wanted!   I chose a red nylon cover with a Hex B on one side and milled in the USA on the other.

It was what Ben did next that left me absolutey speechless and will make me a Bettinardi Loyalist now.  He opened some cabinents and stated grab any shirt you want!  Mind you there are high quality Bettinardi Polo shirts!    He then went to the closet and asked what color our golf bags were.  I stated mine was a red Wisconsin Badger Hoofer.  He then threw and red and white Bettinardi players towel at me!

After this occured and Kevin was getting fit, Bob came upstairs and greeted us.  It was crazy!

Sorry no pictures of the studio as my wife forgot to tell me she took the memory stick out of the digital camera before sending it with me.

I will post actual pictures sometime soon, but here is the registry number of my putter!  Let me know what you think......I think it is "Wicked Awesome"!

I thought it would be alot firmer than it was......It felt like butter.  I could not be happier with the feel.  I cannot wait to get out and used it!  I would highly recommend the Studio fitting to anyone who is in the area!  Well worth our 4 hour drive to get there!  I will let Kevin talk about his experience, but his putter is SICK as well!

Nice.  That operation is all class, and all business at the same time.  I can tell you that I'd NEVER want our top dogs telling production folks how to run equipment.  Heck, I wouldn't even let them near the equipment, just to keep everyone else safe.

Like the putter too.   :D

What a great trip and an awesome pick up. I have been to Studio B twice and they never have anything cool like this pickup. I was there last month and ZERO BB-0's or BB-8's available :(. I guess my timing is bad. Usually if you want the special pieces you have to get them from Nick or Jimmy.

I got a BB-0 and there were at least 3 more that I can think of.   We asked Ben if he had any other styles in stock, and he went to the floor and brought up roughly 10 more putters.   Must have been bad timing Jason!

I think it is always bad timing to go to the Studio just before the Social. All the putters are being finished up for the Social and you will not be seeing them as they are going to be a surprise. Right after the Social you will have a better shot at finding some special putters, putters that were not purchased during the social and new putters that have been put together after the social or were not ready in time for the Social.

As Scott has stated we had a great time at the studio.  We were treated great by Ben and enjoyed browsing thru plenty of flatsticks.  Taking this trip made me wonder why I had not had a putter fitting sooner.  Both Scott and I (Scott sooner than me)  wound up with the first putters we touched and the one we both said was the nicest.  Funny thing is we both ended up with basically what we thought of in terms of heads and finishes, just needed the specs tweaked.

Instantly into the fitting we noticed 2 major things.  The putterhead was aimed left(both flow necks and plumbers) and I set my hands ahead of the ball and deloft it significantly.  By raising my hands the alignment issue was solved so this told us 2 things A) I need to get more over the ball, B) I need to get the toe down.  So the adjustment was to shorten the putter to 34.5 which allowed me to get over it more.  Perfect problem one solved.  Problem 2 was the loft.  The putter was standard 3*.  To get my putter to play 3* we needed to add 2* of loft.  So a 5* loft putter in my hands plays to the appropriate 3*.  I also picked the red/white Kool-Aid grip, got my choice of covers and was totally stoked.  I should say that after the putter was changed to my specs I did not miss a putt(8-10 footers).

Ben then gave us pick of the litter of the Polo's and threw us a towel on the way out the door.  His knowledge and professionalism was top notch.  I had high hopes for the trip, and like Scott, it exceeded them in everyway  I cannot wait to get out tomorrow and try my new Betti.  While the putter is certainly flashy I think its still very classy.  It is everything I wanted in terms of the material, finish, and headshape(DASS,flamed,BB0)

If you have been wanting to take a trip to Studio B do yourself a favor and make an appointment.

We had an amazing time.  Played today.   Shot 70 -2(I am a .5 handi)  did not hit it real close but made some putts.  The ball rolls so well of the face.  Lots of puts started online. 29 putts with 14 greens hit.
