is this Wilson Arnold Palmer of much value?
« on: June 08, 2010, 09:22:20 AM »
I have had a putter passed down from my grandparents and was wondering what its value was. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks, Thomas

Its value will be determined, of course, by what someone is willing to pay for it.

It is a UK version, not the prized Wilson Arnold Palmer that was the predecessor to the Designed By Arnold Palmer/8802

Are they rare? I have asked around everywhere yet  nobody seems to know much about it.

They don't come up very often, but I have no idea how many were made.

I was thinking about selling it yes, but now i am thinking of holding onto it for a while longer. Bit of sentimental value to this putter. Of course if the right buyer came about i might consider.
Thank you for your reply's.

Check the endcap.  Does it say "Made in Scotland" ? under the Wilson flags logo?

Wilson made putters similar to their U.S. line in scotland for U.K. and European sales.  They all had the different (old english?) font style shown above.  This one probably dates to the mid 1960s.

It is too worn on the cap and you cant see it. Thats the reason i am really struggling to find out which model it is. Very frustrating. The pictures i put up are the only way of identifying it.
Thanks, Thomas

Same putter is discussed here:

No FS action is permitted in this area -- that's why I moved your previous thread on this putter, after you posted that it is FS on ebay UK.

Looking at that one, there are some slight differences with the shape towards the golf head.
I have put it on ebay yes but thinking about removing it now if that is possible.
thanks for the help, Thomas

Good catch MM!

We've been looking at this thread, the previous identical one moved to the ebay area, the UK ebay auction and the two brand new members who've been touting this putter.  Perhaps they are the 2 bidders on the ebay auction.  We have reason to believe that they are the same person.  Whether shilling is happening in the ebay auction or not, it was happening here.

Therefore, both tspo2010 and goldstargolfer have been permanently banned.

John,

There was also a previous auction they had for the same item, guess who won that auction..........

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150449036987&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

They would have known how much it would and should go for......

Great catch John!  Glad people who only come here to hawk their items off, playing the ignorant golfer, are caught and banned.  Well done.

It is sad when a person has to join a golf website to shill bid his/her own wares by creating multiple website personalities.  Pathetic, me thinks.

I have one internet personality on all sites but multiple personalities in real life.  ;)
