My new SB-1
« on: March 21, 2010, 10:53:09 PM »
I picked this sweet putter up on Saturday and have not been able to put it down.  I tooks some outdoor photos of it today and I don't think they do the finish justice.  I am not sure how to capture the different colors of the golden wheat finish.  This is the first putter I have owned with a flow neck and so far I really like it.  In about 8-12 weeks I plan on gaming this and writing up a review.  :)

Scott has been a pleasure to deal with while ordering this flatstick.  They send out a little package including a COA of your putter, with your name on it, and some info about their putters.  The first thing I noticed when I opened the box up was a hand written thank you note from Scott himself.  Now that is something you don't see or hear about much anymore.  I really appreciate the fact that he took the time to write that out to me.

Thanks again Scott

Here are a few pics

thank you for the kind words.  the golden wheat torch finish is awesome.  i'm sure you will like the performance of the putter once you dial in the distance control.  please let us know what you think once you've had the chance to play a few rounds with the sb-1.

Scott, do you know what the headweight is on this one?  I putted with it for a little longer last night and love it.  Very easy to line up and puts one heck of a roll on the ball.

This one was already made when I ordered it.  I am not sure if it was a custom order at one time or if they just made a few like it.  I will tell you that it is one great feeling putter!!!!!  I am very happy with this putter.

it is a custom neck.  the xb-1 / sb-1 designs incorporate a short neck shaft over hosel.  our customers immediately asked for a plumber's neck which we have done.  and, we wanted to make something different - so, we added the custom "flow neck" to this design.  many think that this should be the base neck.

kyle, have you ever tried the signature series with the copper face insert or are you not an insert lover?

btw, i started making a few custom putters, today:

kb-1 black oxide - the contrast between the black oxide and the copper face insert is sweet
kb-2 black oxide
kb-1 rainbow pvd - i have never seen the rainbow pvd with the copper face insert
kb-2 rainbow pvd
kb-1 black pvd - i really like the durability of this finish
kb-2 black pvd

no, none of the new ones (rainbow pvd, black pvd and black oxide) are on the sheet.  i just decided to do them, today.

have you seen this one?  sb-1 rainbow pvd (or black pearl).  pics don't do it justice.

btw, i really like the finish on your sb-1 flow neck.  it is as good as anything we have made.  i think it is classy - but, unique.

DANG YOU SCOTT!!!  I think the antique copper one is my favorite out of that group.  Although the black jack one looks very stealthy!!  Are they stainless or carbon?

we used 12L14 carbon steel for our signature series blades (xb-1 / kb-1 and xb-2 / kb-2).

here is another finish - antique brass.  it had a lot more green and gold in it than these pics. show.

I had a chance yesterday to put this putter in play for the first time.  I took it and one other on a test run.  I used this for the first time on hole #6.  I was in the fringe 20 feet from the pin with some left to right break in it.. Yep.. right in the middle of the cup for my first birdie of the day!!!  I also made another birdie on #9 from about 10 feet straight up the hill.

Like the other putter I used, distance control was a little tough, but that was me not the putter.  I would recommend to anyone that hasn't tried out one of these to give it a try.  This is a very good feeling putter.  And the golden wheat finish looks great in the sun.  You can't tell in the pics but it has a lot of purple hues in the sunlight that look great!!!

i have 2 center-shafted sb-2s.

the first one is a short neck (1/2 offset)

and the second is a custom neck (no off-set)
