Tungsten Weights
« on: March 06, 2010, 03:32:26 pm »
Has anyone ever added tungsten weight to your putter? I tend to suffer from the yips and now prefer a heavier putter. I actually have a putter that I like but it is a little light and I'd like to add some weight.

Thanks

PS- If you can do it let me know.

I've added tungsten powder down the shaft to add weight before... and I've also used tip weights........

I found it a very effective way to add a weight to make a lighter putter feel heavier.

There are also some 200+ gram shafts out there for a heavier feeling putter as well.

A few thoughts. ;)
Betti's. Byrons, Cammie's, Whitlam's...... and some others, too :)

Thanks for the good ideas! Sounds like I need a heavier shaft.

I did it a long time ago, I bought some pinewood derby tungsten weights and had help from a friend who owned a machine shop.  Two holes were drilled in the putter's sole, then weights were epoxied in.  IIRC, the weight went up 25 grams.

I am sure any of the putter refinishers on here can do it.

Sounds easy enough, but a heavier shaft might be a quicker and cheaper fix LOL

I play a 32.5 and was interested in adding a little weight also.  Has anyone tried these?

Also how are they installed?  Under the grip?

I think you cut an round hole in the end of the grip and these insert into that hole. At least the putters I have seen with these installed have the weights visible from the butt of the grip.
