Dave, we will stay at the Sat. night at the Hilton since I have to drive back home Fri after golf or ?? .

I just figured out that where we go several times during the summer is blocks from Byron's place,,,And about putter geeks,,,,, Kate already endures countless "Honey look!!!!" requests!

************** GOLF COURSE UPDATE ***************

Gents, this is a golf course update/alert.  Through the tireless efforts of PT and Club Byron member artpga (Art) on Friday we will be playing at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine!  ;D

http://www.oakcreekgolfclub.com/overview/scorecard.asp

I have not been to Oak Creek, but according to Art it is one of the better daily fee golf courses in the area.  He says we are in for a treat.  I will email you all with more 411 later...

Thursday golf is still planned for Mile Square.  I suggest the Classic course.

Saturday golf is still planned for Los Serranos - South Course.  Anyone up for the Jack's Black tees - par 74?  8)

Oak Creek is a Tom Fazio Design, not overly long but not short. Some great holes including Par 5 9th and the Par 4 1st is a tough start and a nice Par 3 after that. The course is owned by the Irvine Company which also owns Pelican Hill, so your going to a nice High End OC G.C.. The Practice facility is very nice with a large Chipping green with bunker and large range as well. only one small putting green though. Be sure to bring money for Tips and Balls as they are a bit expensive. I practice there all the time and have played there twice. You guys will have fun there.

Oak Creek should be in great shape... It's hosting the scga net am qualifier that wednesday...

Don't know if Los Serranos will have the blacks out on Saturday... If I recall from my numerous rounds there, they usually didnt' put the blacks out on the weekends to keep pace of play up, but of course, that may have changed, since it's been a few years since I've played there.

I sure wish I could have made this mixer... hopefully next year... :)

No black tees on Saturdays.  :(  However, we can play the back tee box on 18 to make things sporty.  How does 677 yards sound?  ;D

Yeah well, I think my game has been over-hyped.  As they say where I'm originally from "I used to could".  Now, I'm just a guy sneaking up on 50 that bunts it around the golf course like Cory Pavin.  For crying out loud, I've got 3 hybrids in my bag!   :o  I used to hit a 1-iron when 1-irons looked like something you used to put butter on your toast.  Now I don't want anything more difficult to hit than a 5-iron in my bag.   I like to have fun, and I like a challenge.  677 yards with the 3rd or 4th shot over a pond sounds like a challenge to me.  ;D  Anybody else up for a challenge?  ::)

Uh-oh now I have pressure. Don't expect too much from me. :) I just want to break 80 for one of the rounds on courses I've never seen.

There will be much better golfers there than me.
I was hoping to see iTeach play and learn a thing or three.

Break 80?!  Haha.  My best round(s) are 83s.  If I could break 80, I'd be ecstatic.  Haha.  I just waste too many long shots (mishits and stuff).  My short game isn't amazing but it's the only thing keeping me in the 80s.

I'm studying the course layouts online to see how to play each hole.  I may not be a great golfer but I can at least try to be smart!

Ryan, Los Serranos is a very playble course, no target golf, no forced carries, there is holes where it takes the big dog out of the big hitters hands,,, it's cruel but fair. 190 par 3, but, it has a drop of at least 60 feet.

Can't wait to get out there!  Looks like I have to fly to China afterwards instead of returning home though.  By the way 60 sounds fantastic that is much warmer than it has been in MA all winter.

The places we are playing are inland, and should be a few degrees warmer than HB.  BTW, for most of us from colder places it will be border line shorts weather.  Keep in mind that we are playing in the middle of the day both days.  I agree with John, sunny and upper 60's sounds GREAT!

I've been told by the owner of Los Serranos that the black tees won't be out on Saturday.  TJ should feel relieved.  ;)  As I posted below, we can play 18 from the blacks tee box, stretching it out to 677.  Bring your man-cards for that one.  8)

Please email me your handicaps/indexes.  It will help to make the groupings for each day.  We'll try to change up who plays together each day.

One day closer!  :)

the 60's? A bit of breeze? I am going to be extremely disappointed if it doesn't drop to the 40's and we experience 30-40mph winds with at least some showers. They're the only conditions in which I can play golf seeing as thats the only conditions we get here in the UK :) If I see the sun during the round I will leave immediately for the beach!

I know Dave will back me on this one he was saying how much he enjoyed the conditons at the UK Byron outing  ;D ;D

Well the winds, clouds, rain, and chill are now gone up here in Northern California, Sacramento, which means SoCal is even nicer. Shorts and Black Oxide sticks are gamers of choice!

Ben, you are so right.  I would have been disappointed to play golf in Ireland in warm, sunny weather.  I wanted the authentic experience, and we got it - intermitant rain, clouds, wind, more wind.  It was a blast!!  I would not have had it any other way. 8)

It's pretty nice out here in the bay, Ryan.  About 60* and not a cloud in the sky.  I'm definitely heading to the range after work today.  I'll probably be wearing shorts at the mixer on every single golf outing.  I might be using my 006 Oil Can!

I'm only kidding with you  ;D If I could post a photo from my office window then you would realise that I'm in clinical need of some sunshine.

and shiny putters of course.

No worries Ben.  I know sarcasm and British wit when I read it.  ;)  See you in HB.  Safe travels.
