That's fantastic news!  The copper Dale Head has my name all over it!  It has got to be one of the nicest putters I've seen in a long, long time.

To my knowledge, you can't weld copper to carbon or stainless....

Any Metallurgists out there?

Generally copper is brazed in general practice.  Here is a link describing the conditions and methods.

Personally I hope that everyone takes advantage of the opportunity to purchase one of the limited edition 20th Anniversary putters before they consider buying a "regular line" putter. Look what you get for $500. a tour quality one piece CNC milled tour quality Anser style head, choice of carbon or copper (or both for $950); exotic grip; and one of the coolest head covers you have seen, and there will only ever be 89 of them - 39 carbon, 39 stainless and 11 solid copper.

You could not touch this putter for less than $2,000 if it had been marketed by you know who. And to think you can buy a 3 putter set, including one of 11 solid copper putters, for $1,500! The solid copper putter would sell for over $12,000 at a museum in Japan.

Guys and Gals, this putter is a celebratory creation based on the putter Byron first made in 1989, 20 years ago and before many other manufacture made a spin off of the Ping Anser head. It is an absolute bargain considering the quality and what you get for your money.

You can always go in with someone else and split a set of 2 or 3.  I think Chris offered to do this, and I bet there are others who would be willing too.  In fact, IIRC, ZMan suggested there might one-sies available.

Man - nice
I am not "wired" at the moment, moving and all this past week I have not had my internet installed at the house and just happened to have a chance to check email and stumbled here.

Are there any copper units left?
I am interested in a 3 unit set.

Thanks

Getting back to this, you can TIG copper as long as the neck, body, and filler wire is a copper alloy.

I once worked at a customer site in Tucson, AZ that was making an electrode panel to extract different metalic ores from a melting vat based on the current and frequency that was conducted through the plate.  The process was welding a stainless steel plate onto a copper bar using manganese bronze filler wire.  This was a MIG welding application performed by a robot.  This was, needless to say, one of the most exotic processes I have ever been around.  But yes, you can weld copper to stainless steel but the process is very tricky.

Sometime next year when we are sold out of the anniversary putters we will have some putters for hand stamping in carbon and stainless.  They will be the same price as the anniversary Dale Head 89.
The grip is exotic salmon or you can get leather stitchbacks in black, redwood, and sand.

Byron,

Will you consider making the DH89 head with a welded Rincon neck?  As you might guess, I am rather fond of that style neck.   ;D

Byron,

Will we have the option to have a sight line or sight dot on the putters?  Is this possible with the Dalehead 89 Release?

Thank you,

Special thanks to Doug for all his work on this putter.  The concept of the putter, the head cover and the engraving.  Doug loves putters and can come to California and be President of Byron Golf Design anytime he wants.
Thank you Doug, you are the MAN!
Byron Morgan

I think he would hate Huntington Beach Byron, specially in those terrible summer days, or when the beach volleyball tournaments are going on, those summer highs in the 80's, and of course those horrible winters with lows in the 60's and even sometimes in the 50's !!!  ;)

Yea, Carbon Steel/Copper Plated DH89, sound slot, no site dot/lines/marks, Byron Cross on face, DH on left side weight, 89 on right side weight, no other stamps, 34" with Gripmaster Redwood Byron grip.

Yep, sounds like a great putter for test putter #6.  I would like to sign up for all 15 slots right now, thank you very much.  ;)
