A new metal 28g
« on: March 18, 2011, 02:07:49 PM »
We've just got a new batch of forgings of a new material in. The metal is called Coldur A, its a proprietary metal of a company here in the UK and is a high Copper alloy, similar to a silicon bronze. I have to say these came out of the brinell hardness tests as soft, and this certainly translates into the feel from the putter. Beautiful looking colour as well, a champagne gold. Much softer than carbon steel and I think this is my favourite feeling metal we have experimented with so far.

Beauty.  Brillian.
What kind of headweight?
What shaft is in there?
Due to its softness, will it get nicked easily?

This on is 350g with a true temper stepless flair tip shaft. The material is quite dense so we can get a huge range of weights on the heads along the lines of 330-370g.

Coldur A is softer than 1018 carbon but harder than copper, so it requires a bit of care not to ding it but it certainy wouldn't be particularly labour intensive. I think you would file it under the needs to a little extra looking after than your carbon putter.

That is a beautiful putter.  Your thread caused me to google a dollar conversion calculator.
