This may be posted elsewhere, but is that Odyssey deal a total no-go??  Seems so, but I didn't see any details on a confirmation or any reason(s) why...

Those milled 8802s are, I believe 11L17 carbon steel with an oxide finish.  They will feel softer than the chrome 8802s and you might like them because they are a lighter milling.  You could easily get one redone through Black Oxide Service or get a different finish applied.

They also have the stepped Head Speed shaft, which I believe contributes to the softer feel in the 8802s over many modern iterations.

I always gravitate towards the simple brown leather one on the right of the orange one. Love the classic look, use it all the time. They are great headcovers, I've had a lot over the years but the SRCs are the best IMO. Whatever type of putter you're using.  8)

Thank you, Stage

How about the one that has a "milled" on the face and come in black.

I saw one in the thread, it look like it rusted for the whole head.

Not sure if this one is legit?

Chrome = carbon steel forged (likely 1030) and plated

Modern milled = Stainless steel head

The 1964, if you get leather, is non-conforming.  That is only an issue if you plan on playing tournament golf.

I'd recommend the Mendralla models from about 5-10 years ago.  Original shape, head speed shaft, and you can grip without issues.  You can also look for the taller "quarter faced" models with conforming leather if you want the feel of leather.

Wilson Putters / Looking for a 8802 for gamer, some opinion please

I am looking for a 8802 to be my gamer. However I am not sure which model to choose from. I have already purchased the new version (2015) but find that the head weight is quite heavy and feel too mute for my liking (I have tried chrome version and quite like it).

I believe to get the 1964 version would be the ultimate but it would be very pricey. What is the difference between the chrome version and the dark milled version?

Any comments would be highly appreciated. Thank you :)
