Rare Opportunity to snag a gem
« on: May 13, 2018, 08:55:05 PM »
I ran across this one after a customer asked about it.  They wondered if I had my own "007" model or if this was an aftermarket job.
The truth is that Byron Morgan is one of the most generous men in the world of putters and he knew that having an "Anser-style" in my line-up would help me keep moving forward while I learned my craft.  He made a deal with me that allowed me to use his 007 and 006 heads, when available to custom work my own touches on and create new looks.
One lucky customer, Steff Villadsen made the purchase and has one of only a handful of these in existence.  It is a Byron Morgan 007 head that was worked over by myself, stamped, finished and shipped to Finland, I believe.
He has it here on eBay at a price that almost had be purchase it back.  The headcover alone is an incredibly rare piece, from the first run of logo'd covers that AM&E ever made for me.

eBay auction: #232763193219

If I told you how close I was to buying it back, you'd laugh.  It will make someone an amazing gamer, as I believe that the 007 was one of Byron's best designs.  In fact, I still have my Club Byron 303SS 007 on the wall and it is not going ANYWHERE.

If you have ever wanted a piece that was worked on in my shop, but had Byron's lineage, THIS could be a once in a lifetime buy.

Good Luck.......don't be shocked if by night's end, I have purchased this little rascal, ;)

Been looking at this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MANN-KRAFTED-MANN-MADE-CUSTOM-CACTUS-PUTTER-34-5/163037338763?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

... as it is more in line with my choice of neck and length, but I am not sure I want a brass head...

I was wondering about that - Byron's naming on a Lamont putter.  Now the story is known.  Thanks!!

Would love to see one of the 006s next.....  :-)

Despite quite a bit of interest I didn't manage to offload the aforementioned putter.

It is now re-listed at an even friendlier price.: http://r.ebay.com/rWzgp4

Fingers crossed we can find it a new home  ;)

The PN issue is the only reason that I didn't bid on it... that and I play a minimum 34", but really prefer 34.5 or 35".

The history of it is what tempted me most... good luck and I hope it sells for you!

Boy, am I p***ed off right now!

I just missed this - I was the only bidder for the last 4 days and someone jumps in and gazumps me with 3 seconds to run on the auction! I am at work and you just can't bid in time against that on a mobile, probably would have got me on a computer anyway :-(

This seems to be the way on eBay now as standard. P***** me off and means the seller is missing out IMHO.

Okay - rant over and breathing through my nose again.  :)

eBay creates one of those rare instance where timing is everything - and yet nothing at all since we have no idea how high the “sniper” max bid was.

While i am still guilty of watching and trying a steal bid at last second, i have learned that if willing to pay $x it is best to just put in that bid - and, if you use them, set your snipe timer to place that  bid in last few seconds.

Been on both sides and I know how you feel... fortunately for me, it wasn't my typical set up so I wasn't in the bidding with you.

Hope it goes to a good home...
