Help and Advice
« on: June 02, 2017, 11:58:04 PM »

I live in a highly humid tropical placeand My machine Damascus are starting to spot slightly.

Does anyone know of a durable clear coat I can apply to them?  I think there is only so much silicone spray can do.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that mate! Give them a once over with the Eezox to try and rectify matters. It gets very humid here in Sydney also and for years I have just wiped my putters with baby oil on a rag and so far so good.

Kind regards,

Just wondering - has anybody ever tried the clear coat that is used on cars ?  Dries hard - durable - microns thick, so it won't add weight...

dont think clear coat a great idea. it will chip wear etc just like paint. theres a reason it's not generally applied as a finish to carbon steel putters by makers. A little spotting just makes it sweeter, if you can't handle it, ive found barricade and the finest steel wool will remove without damaging finish

Most all my carbons are black ox and get 3 in 1 oil treatment.
I have 2 blue oil finishes and they keep head covers and get oil as well.
I have one gun blue that gets oil, when I perch it on the green, it sits on a rag or towel.

^ Best practice, gentlemen. I'd bet dollars to donuts that there's exactly zero oxidation/corrosion/spotting on any of these finishes.
